YOU – The Greatest Creation Made By God

Good evening SONSHINES !! =P

Wanna share with you all this QT post which I had actually shared with my ex-cell last sem (some of u might know).  =) I pray that it will speak to you as loudly as it had spoken to me! Here it goes! Be blessed!

*clears throat*

You know what or who is the greatest creation that God can ever make in this world?

you you YOU!!

thats right! YOU! yes the sceneries, beaches, 7 wonders of the world, etc. are beautiful. but hey! You’re the greatest creation that God has ever made. You are more beautiful, pretty, handsome than all these wonders of the world!

why? because you are FEARFULLY & WONDERFULLY made by God Himself![Psalm 139:14] think about this, did God ever stated in the Bible that He fearfully and wonderfully made the earth? Nope. BUT He did say that He made you fearfully and wonderfully.

You are the most beautiful creation that God has ever made. so don’t go and look at the mirror or telling others that you’re ugly, fat, blablabla. because for me i believe that if we were to say that, doesn’t it sounds as if we’re insulting God?=)  like He did not made us beautiful enough, when He’s the bestest, greatest and smartest person ever.

You think that you’re not as good as others? think again! cause He made you fearfully and wonderfully with full of love & care! He gave us all different talents and uniqueness. and He even knows the no. of hairs on your head![Matt10:30, Luke 12:7]. and i don’t think that even the person who love you the most in this earth will bother to know the no. of hairs on your head isn’t it? =) thats how much God LOVES you! boundless, no limit!

want to know more why you are God’s greatest creation?
because God created YOU and ME in His own image ! My goodness, who can be more beautiful than God Himself? And to know that we were made in His image? WOW! that means we too are beautiful! hehe.

so no more silly thoughts about how you are this and that, but embrace His love for you and let His love flow through you & in you to love Him, yourself & others around you. Let us look around us and go out there to tell the ppl that we love and others about this LOVE that God gave to us and open up their eyes on how great our God is and how precious they are in His sight [Isaiah 43:4] and also how they are fearfully and wonderfully made! Amen?=)

p/s:

I’ve actually made a video for u guys(my awesome and beloved cellies!!) and for my projz team. Tehee. Tried to upload it here but can’t. =( so I can only post in the projz fb page. Hmmm I think I’ll just tag u guys. =)

BUT but below’s a song by Steven Curtis Chapman. It’s called “fingerprints of God”.=)  I loveeee this song!!!! Tehee! Read the lyrics while the song is playing and I can guarantee with u that you won’t ever regret hearing this song. =) And I believe this song really speaks of how God is our creator that when everyone looks at us, we’re different because we are God’s child! God’s fingerprints; His marks are all over us! How awesome is that???=D

Ok I shall stop before it gets too long. =) All the best for your exams! Let’s press on guys! Look on towards the finish goal. And that is HDssss and of course H-O-L-I-D-A-Y!=D

God bless and take care!

Lotsa LOVE!
Steph.
(God’s child, greatest creation of God, made in His image, fearfully and wonderfully made by God)

Fingerprints of God – Steven Curtis Chapman

[verse1]

I can see the tears filling your eyes
And I know where they’re coming from
They’re coming from a heart that’s broken in two
By what you don’t see
The person in the mirror
Doesn’t look like a magazine
Oh but when I look at you
It’s clear to me

[chorus]
That I can see the fingerprints of God
When I look at you
I can see the fingerprints of God
And I know it’s true
You’re a masterpiece that all creation
Quietly applauds
And you’re covered with
The fingerprints of God

[verse2]
Never has there been and never again
Will there be another you
Fashioned by God’s hand and perfectly planned
To be just who you are
And what He’s been creating
Since the first beat of your heart
Is a living, breathing
Priceless work of art

[bridge]
Just look at you
You’re a wonder in the making
And God’s not through
In fact, He’s just getting started!

Walau Seribu Rebah

Hello hello!

I really like the English version of this song, but can’t seem to find it anywhere on You tube, so here’s the original Bahasa (Indo or Melayu) version. I’ll just post the English lyrics anyway, I think it’s directly translated, but since I don’t cakap melayu, I may be wrong. Ha ha. Singaporean fail.

Though a Thousand Fall

Mercies that rise with the new morn
Set me apart as a new born
Each moment I live, by faith I believe
With You I’m never alone

Darkness may come, trials seem so long
You are the light I depend on
Through valleys and storms, Your word keeps me strong
My shelter, refuge and song
I trust in You

Everyday I live
I know You are my God
I lift my face and look to you my God
Even when the mountains tremble
And a thousand fall
I will stand with You
My Jesus Take my all

Ha ha, I know the video is quite old-school-ish corny right? But YOU try finding a better alternative. Just close your eyes and enjoy the song if you can’t stand it. Ha. You may try locating it on You tube if you can. It’s a simple albeit powerful song that speaks volumes to me about the uncomplicated-ness of our walk with God.

Have a good day and hope to see all of you tomorrow! 🙂

On the Topic of Giving.

Hello my beloved(s),

Isn’t Steph’s sharing an absolute blast? I was reminded of a reading I came across recently that challenged me to think about what was it exactly that I am seeking. Is it God? Or is it what God can give me? And don’t we all fall into this trap sometimes? We come before Him, and start rattling off all the requests in our mental lists and end off our “quiet time” session without even waiting for God to sneak a word in. In the area of our ministry as well, don’t we sometimes allow the things that we do eclipse the one that we are supposedly doing it for?

Let’s stop. Ponder. Re-evaluate.

Our God is a good God who wants to give us all that we need. But before He can do that, we are required to give Him all that we have.

I think, the mark of growth would surely be the decrease of “I” and the increase of “Him” in our lives. Paul said this in Galatians 20:

I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.”

For the longest time, I’ve read this line and it’s always merely been a reminder that I am not my own anymore. I am no longer the broken, miserable creature I was before He found me, because now I am a new creation in Him. While this still holds true but the verse revealed itself in a different light to me the other day as I thought about it more.

It says “I” have been crucified and “I” no longer live. And suddenly it dawned on me that as a follower of Christ, it really really isn’t about me, myself and “I” anymore. “I” have died and now Christ lives in me. And I thought about all the times I came before God and told Him about all the things “I” want… all the things “I” was upset about… and it struck me that I’ve really missed the point of it all, haven’t I?

And thus, it is my resolve that “complete surrender” no longer remain as words to a worship song, but that they will be manifested through my lifestyle. More of Him and less of “I”.

Of course, some of you will read this and think about how hard it is to be a Christian. But can I just add that these resolves do not occur instantly? It is only when I got to know Him more and fell deeper in love with Him that I willingly chose to make these decisions. Obviously there will be times of regression i.e. I get naughty and disobey or rebel but I think, this walk is a good walk to be on. This relationship with Him is something that is worth everything I have. So relax people, all I am asking is that you will seek Him. Because what you will find is greater than anything you can ever imagine.

Alright, be blessed. Let’s not give up the habit of keeping each other in prayer yea?

Love you all,

Jamie.

Steph Speaks: “How Deep is your Love?”

(Hi guys and girls, I know it gets boring hearing me yap on all the time, so this post, we’ll have a new voice, new perspective… put your hands together to welcome… Steph.)

Hey hey! Hope you guys are all well! =D  neways, I just felt that I need to share with you guys what I got from my quiet time(QT) with God few days ago. Tehee… here it goes!

For this QT sharing, you’ve gotta read Daniel 3 =)

To Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, God gave “knowledge & understanding of all kinds of literature & learning.”Daniel 1:17 When the king of Babylon (king Nebuchadnezzar) needed advice, he knew that he can turn to these 3 men of God for they were full of wisdom and understanding.

But I’m not here to talk about wisdom or God’s gift. I’m here to talk about their love for God.

These 3 men of God didn’t want to bow down to the gods that king Nebuchadnezzar have set up. This then cause the king of Babylon to be extremely furious with them and ordered for these men to be thrown into a fiery furnace to be perished.

When I read this chapter, I tell you, I was totally blown away. Why? Because from verse to verse, you can sense these 3 men’s love for God, especially in verse 18 “But even if he does not, we want you to know, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.”

When people get threatened, normally their first reaction would be run and hide isn’t it? Or maybe it is to give in to whatever the opponent wants. But these reactions did not even occur to Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. They were deeply in love with God til the extent where eventhough they might be accused and even perished, they will still faithfully follow their living God. Wow! They decided to not let fear but let faith rise up in their life. Their love is so deep that they will not bow down to other gods.

If you read verse 24 til 27, these 3 men of God was thrown into the fire but they came out clean! Clean in the sense that they came WALKING out of the fiery furnace without any wounds or scars or even any fire smell on them! It is as if they had never been thrown into the fire at all! And why is that so? Because……..God was with them! There’s only these 3 men who were thrown into the fire, but while they were inside the furnace, the king of Babylon saw “4 men walking around the fire, unbound and unharmed, and the fourth looks like the son of the gods” God was with Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego in the fire friends! Truly, how GREAT is our GOD!!=)

After king Nebuchadnezzar saw what had happened, he was overwhelmed. And it didn’t stop there guys. Nope it didn’t. The king went on to promote these 3 men of God (verse 30)!

My brothers and sisters in Christ, this is what I believe God wants you and me to know:

When we love Him and follow Him, He will take care of us

We must not be shaken when we are being tempted or threatened by someone else. Lemme tell you this, the enemy (devil) knows our weaknesses. Let me say that again :

The enemy KNOWS our weaknesses!!

And the enemy will use our weaknesses to pull us away from God.

When you think that your love for God is not deep enough, then dig that well of love!

But if you think that your love for God is enough, I encourage you guys and girls to don’t stop digging! Don’t stop or give up loving God deeper. Dig deep into the love for God.

Now now friends, let us stop and ponder this question a while shall we:

How deep is your love for God?

Bear in mind, I’m not talking about how much you have done for God. Scrape all other thoughts away too and let your love and God’s love be the only thing that remains in your mind now. Then see. See and discover how deep your love for God is.

If it’s not enough, then dig deeper. Let’s grow deeper and deeper in love with God!

Your love for God is much more important than your work for God. Because you see, if your love for God is not deep, chances are the work that you will be doing for God will be done half-heartedly isn’t it?

I wanna end with this song by Hillsong. It’s called \Deeply in Love\ . Ah and here’s the lyrics:

In my life You’ve heard me say I love You How do I, show You it’s true Hear my heart, it longs for more of You I’ve fallen deeply in love with You

Chorus:

You have stolen my heart I’m captivated by You Never will You and I part I’ve fallen deeply in love with You You and I together forever Nothing can stand in the way My love for You, grows stronger each new day I’ve fallen deeply in love with You

Be blessed my dearly beloved brothers and sisters in Christ! Have a blessed week ahead!

Love,

Steph =)

Hello There!

Wow, this blog has really been stagnant hasn’t it? Entirely my fault… I’m sorry.

Anyway, just a quick note to remind you all to still check in regularly on this site. Sorry for the less than regular updates, and remember to read the devotionals at Our Daily Bread if I forgot to post it here. 🙂

What? Oh, you mean I failed to inform you of the switch to another devotional? Ooops… my bad! I will probably switch it around anyways, depending on which I feel speaks more to the cell.

Ok! Study hard my friends! (And pray infinitely harder!)

Love!

Disappointed.

Yes. I’m disappointed that despite me not posting the devotionals for the past week or so, no one actually asked about it. But since it’s Easter, the season of forgiveness, let’s try again yes? Let’s take responsibility for our walk with God and really be serious about Him.

Truth is, no one is immune to the (hopefully) occasional bouts of laziness. As students with a responsibility to our parents, as well as ourselves, we are understandably hard-pressed to juggle everything on our platters, especially in times like this, when we are all inundated by work, work and more work, on top of the church activities that some of us are committed to.

I understand, completely.

And this, my beloved girls and boys, is the reason why we need to cling on to Him even more than before. Cut out everything else, “Left for Dead” time, surfing internet time, online shopping time (that’s me), even sleeping time, but do not cut out time spent in His presence.

Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength. Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint. – Isaiah 40:28-31

The Word reminds us that even young people (like you and erm, me) will grow weary at times, but wait on the Lord and He shall make you strong again. To wait on Him is to spend time in His presence so come on now my loves, let’s rise up and re-focus our vision towards the light. I’m speaking to myself as much as I’m speaking to you here so we will do this together ok? Come the end of the semester, I pray that all of us here will have grown in one way or another in our walk with God.

Right. Don’t waste this beautiful holiday, ponder over what Josh Lauzy preached on in cell. Salvation truly is a amazing gift that you and I have absolutely no business receiving, and yet, it is presented to us, freely given, lovingly sacrificed, just so we can have a relationship with our Creator God. Easter truly is a day of celebration! Not only because Jesus hung on the cross for our sins but more so that He overcame death so we can have life, and life everlasting. In a couple of hours would be Easter Sunday, 2000 over years ago, Jesus rose from the dead on a Sunday Morning and with His resurrection came a restoration of hopes and dreams, where once people were doomed to die, now they can live forever.

I know some of you are tired. Some other disappointed maybe? Or a couple upset about things? Fret not! The power of the resurrection is available for you today! So let’s wait on Him, continue to trust in Him and He shall restore all brokenness so your dreams and hopes can live again.

Phew! That was one long message. Anyway, will not bore you further. Come back soon! I’m gonna post pictures yep? 🙂

Love!

Jamie.

The Reason for the (Easter) Season.

Hi my lovelies,

In light of the soon-to-be Easter weekend, I thought I’d post this song as a prelude for what is to come. I love this song so very much, and it never fails to remind me of the reason “Why” I’m here. We’ve often heard that “…nothing in this world is free…” and yea, true that. You and me came at a price too, and this Easter, my prayer is that all of us here will know and/or remember the true reason for this season.

Enjoy the rest of the week, and don’t forget to check in on this page regularly! 🙂

“Why” – Nicole Nordeman

But he was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be whole. He was whipped so we could be healed. – Isaiah 53:5 (NLT)

Love, because He first loved us.

Announcements and Poll.

Hello Lovelies!

(Or Lovely, assuming the blog readership has dwindled to an impressive number of ONE, myself included.)

So anyway! Week 4 of cell (including the very entertaining “Image Matters”) and how is everyone going?! I look forward to cell every week (not that I have much of a choice… LOL!)  and I really hope you do too! 🙂

Alright, enough of the ramble, let’s move on to proper cell things. *Ahem!*

As I was saying, Proper Cell Things… so in order for a cell group of our size and magnitude and magnificence and plain awesomeness to function properly, we need some form of structure, however rudimentary it may be, and structure is what I shall henceforth endeavor to implement. *Drumroll…*

1. RSVP.

Currently our awesome (and overworked) Steph and Ian have taken up the task of messaging you every week to find out if you’re coming for cell etc. Eh, poor things you know, let’s make it easier for them by messaging them by Thursday morning whether you’re coming for cell and service (and transport as well). A gazillion heartfelt THANK YOUs from me, and probably the both of them. *Blows several kisses your way.* Hey Chong Wei! Why are you fanning my kisses away?!

2. Cell Roster.

Hopefully you intelligent creatures still remember the group that you’ve been thoughtfully delegated to – and remembered that you’re ON every alternate week to contribute to cell – whether via cooking some yummyness for refreshment (Yay pizza! Let’s have like, Singapore/ Malaysia food next!) or planning games or performing a dance (I’m just sayin’…) or whatever tickles your fancy. Cell will be decidedly less boring when you do something for it, yes? I think. LOL. So yes! Let’s make it an event every week! Amen! Thank You.

3. Non-Admin related stuff that I have no title for.

Not gonna say much about it now but come check this blog again! We’ll have something that’s decidedly more exciting than my announcements real soon! Well, you should be checking on the blog regularly anyway! Remember the devotion? Huh?! Huh?! Incline your head about 2 degrees to the right… there it is! Read it! LOL. It’s pretty tough right? Want me to switch to another source? Will it make your lives easier? Speaketh now, or forever hold your peace.

Alright. I know most of you have lose interest and left this page already. So I shall bid my hasty farewell and oh yes, yes! Any prayer requests? Give them to Norman yea? We’ll compile them and we’ll pray for each other! The cell that PRAYS together, STAYS together. *Sinister laugh*

Bye!

Jamie.

Hi There!

Oops. Today’s devotional was posted a tad late. Not that anyone noticed, right? Oh come on, it’s 2-3 paragraphs. Can’t be that tough. But yes, I do concur that the reading’s been a bit on the heavy side, but press on people!

You will never learn to love something until you invest time, effort and other resources into it. You will never learn to love God with the passion that you are meant to have until you invest time, effort and other resources into seeking Him and knowing Him. Let’s try a little harder shall we? Remember the verse in Revelations 3:16?

But since you are like lukewarm water, neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth!

God desires a passionate love relationship with you, just like how you would want your partners to love you purposefully and well, for lack of a better word, passionately. So shall we try to NOT remain as apathetic church-goers? Let’s put in more effort to know God, and we can start by reading our daily devotions, yes? Yes?

Alright, but having said that, I am thankful for each and every single one of you in this cell. Am terrible at mushy stuff so I will not gush on, but do know that you matter in this cell. It’s so cliched to say this, but the cell would be incomplete without you. It’s been 3 weeks? That would leave us with not more than 14 weeks (or less) before we bid adieus to each other and go our separate paths next semester. I don’t want to wait till the last cell to discover that “hey! I will miss you guys” or “actually the cell is quite alright…”. But let’s start now! Okie?

Alright. Cell this week:

Group-In-Charge: Stephanie’s.

(Come on Son-shines, don’t wait for the poor girl to call you, offer your services now! —> Sounds kinda dodgy… offering services. LOL.)

You know the drill, we need someone doing games, and yes, refreshments! Up the standard a little can or not? Oh, oh! Before I forget, can we have cell earlier this week? 6-630 pm? I thought we could have dinner before starting cell? Yes? No? (Eh, leave your answers in the comments box. Easier to keep track. :))

Love!

Jamie.

Comments Anyone?

Col 2:6-7

Hi my dedicated daily-devotional-readers! (I speaketh in faith here)

See that thing beckoning over the horizon? That’s right. It’s the weekends calling out to you. 🙂

Won’t blabber on for too long here, just wanna remind you all to invite your friends for “Image Matters” this coming Friday. I attended a session with the speaker (Ms. Irene Loh) today, and whadya know? She’s good! Interesting, funny, AND relevant. So don’t hold back, do as our heavenly Father commanded and “Go out into the streets and the lanes and make the people come in, so that my house may be full” (Luke 14:23). It’ll be great fun!

I know the devotionals thus far have been a bit on the serious and heavy side, but press on, soldiers! “Let’s not get tired of doing what is good, for at the right time we will reap a harvest-if we do not give up.” (Galatians 6:9)

Let’s not give up now, not so early on in the race! 🙂

Right, and now on to a cause for celebration… I don’t think I’ve mentioned this before, but there was a salvation in our cell group not too long ago. YAY! You may already know who it is, so go forth, encourage her without scaring her away (balance, baby, it’s all about the balance). It’s a huge scary step to take, as some of you may recall from when you first accepted Christ, so let’s be here for her yes?

Right. This was meant to be short. So, see you on Friday, please contact Stephanie and Ian respectively if transport is required 🙂 For those that aren’t able to make it, wanna join us for like, supper or BBT after that?

Have a great “rest of the week”, and remember to PRAY.

Jamie.
